What this template covers

This folk trio stage plot is built around three-part harmony: guitar, banjo and upright bass, each with their own vocal mic so nobody has to lean off their instrument to sing. The bass sits upstage centre where it can anchor the group, guitar and banjo flank it on either side, and all three vocal mics line up across the front edge of the stage.

Who uses it

Singer-songwriter trios, Americana bands, and old-time string acts that trade lead vocals between two or three members will recognize this layout. It's sized for a small room stage, a coffeehouse, a listening room, or a brewery gig where you're setting up in a corner, not a full production stage.

Channel walkthrough

  • Acoustic Guitar 1 (DI) - the guitar's pickup, taken direct
  • Banjo - close mic'd from its own position
  • Upright Bass - a condenser mic on the bass, upstage centre
  • Guitar Vox, Banjo Vox, Bass Vox - one mic per singer

Six channels total, sorted drums-first, vocals-last on the input list even though there's no drum kit in this setup, so the order stays predictable for the engineer.

Monitor notes

Each player gets their own wedge, angled up from just in front of their position. Because this is an acoustic act without a drummer driving the volume, keep wedge levels modest. You want to hear the blend, not fight your own instrument in the monitor.

Customize it

Swap the banjo for a mandolin or a second guitar if that's what your trio plays. The instrument icon is what carries the channel, so renaming it and picking a different icon from the Guitars palette won't change how the input list derives. If one player doesn't sing, delete their vocal mic and the channel count drops accordingly.

Export the PDF once your folk trio stage plot matches your real setup and send it to the venue so soundcheck starts on time.
