Auto Number is part of the Numbers group, 1 icons for the things a venue has to build, place, or supply. On the plot it labels a position so the crew can refer to it by number instead of by name.
Position it, scale it, duplicate it for a second player, and the input list follows along without a rebuild.
A plot earns its keep by settling positions before anyone opens a case. Markers sit immediately next to the item they label, close enough that the pairing survives a black and white print. Anything unusual about the position belongs in the plot notes, so the drawing carries its own explanation.
Worth confirming in the advance. Keep numbering consistent between the plot and the input list. Renumbering halfway through an advance is how monitor mixes end up crossed.
Auto Number is not an audio source, so it adds no rows to the input list. It is there to make the drawing accurate: it labels a position so the crew can refer to it by number instead of by name, and the channel count stays clean because nothing silent is padding it out.
