What this template covers

This power trio stage plot template follows the Cream and Rush playbook: the bass player carries lead vocal from center stage while the guitarist works a big mic'd stack on stage left and backs up the vocal from there. With only three players covering the whole sound, this plot leans on a bigger guitar cab and a full bass rig to fill the room, and every player gets a direct line of sight to the drummer.

Because there is no second guitar or keys player to fill space, push the guitar amp a little louder than you would in a four piece and lean on the wedge mix to keep the bassist's vocal on top. A tighter stage width also helps eye contact do the work a bigger band would hand off to in-ear cues.

The input list derives eight drum channels, one mic'd guitar cab, a DI'd bass guitar, and two vocal mics for the lead and backing vocal. The bass cab is placed as backline only, since the bass guitar itself is the channel doing the work through the DI.

How to use it

Open the template, then drag the guitar amp, bass rig and drum kit until the spacing matches your actual stage. Rename the vocal channels, adjust wedge positions, and swap the guitar amp model if your rig looks different.

  • Four piece kit, fully mic'd
  • One guitar stack on stage left, mic'd for front of house
  • Bass guitar on a DI, cab shown for backline only
  • Bassist on lead vocal, guitarist on backing vocal
  • One wedge per performer, three total
