What this template covers

This punk four piece stage plot template is built for the room you are actually playing: a small stage, a fast load in, and a set that starts on time. The kit is a stripped-down mic package instead of a full arena rig, the frontman works center stage without an instrument, and both the guitarist and bassist grab a mic for gang vocals, which is the backbone of most punk choruses.

Punk sets move fast, so keep cable runs short and the drum mic package minimal rather than chasing extra overheads you will not have time to check. A frontman with no instrument can also range further from the mic stand, so budget a longer XLR run than you would for a singing guitarist.

The input list derives from what is on the stage: a compact drum mic package, one mic'd guitar cab, a DI'd bass guitar, and three vocal channels for the frontman, guitarist and bassist. The bass cab sits as backline only since the DI is already generating the bass channel.

How to use it

Open the template and tighten or widen the layout to match your actual stage, which on a lot of punk bills is smaller than you would like. Rename channels, move wedges, and swap the amps for whatever combo you are actually hauling. If the bill runs a shared backline, note which pieces belong to your band so the changeover crew moves the right gear on and off between sets.

  • Stripped-down kit, mic'd for a small stage
  • One guitar amp, mic'd, tight to the drummer
  • Bass on a DI, cab shown for backline only
  • Frontman on lead vocal, gang vocals from guitar and bass
  • One wedge per performer, four total

Send the finished plot to the promoter ahead of the show so changeover between bands does not eat your set time.
