Use the Contrabassoon icon when the string or wind instrument has to be unambiguous on the page. It marks an acoustic source that needs a condenser, a boom, and phantom power, and nobody reading the plot has to guess what the shape is meant to be.
Drag it onto the canvas, resize it, rename the label, and it lands in the exported PDF exactly where you left it.
Where it sits on the deck changes how the rest of the plot reads. Horn sections sit in a shallow arc upstage of the front line. Bowed strings sit seated, usually stage left, with enough clearance for bow arms. Snap the icon to the grid and the distances stay believable on a printed page.
Say this part explicitly. Confirm phantom power availability on the console. Condenser channels fail silently when it is switched off, which wastes soundcheck time.
Contrabassoon produces one channel on the input list, defaulting to a Condenser input, a boom stand and 48V phantom power switched on. It sorts at position 7 in the drums first, vocals last channel order that front of house engineers expect. Change any of it per plot; the default just means you rarely have to.
Channel names travel with the plot. Export a scene file for an X32, M32, or Wing, or a channel name CSV for dLive, Avantis, SQ, DiGiCo, and Yamaha CL and QL. See the console guides.
